Overview
To run the products, the license manager and the products need to be installed from the Base Release media, either from the DVD, or download link
The license manager may be installed on the same machine as the products, or on a different machine, for example, a shared machine, 'license server', connected to the local network.
Installation Guide:
Start the installer from the Base Release media DVD, or download, and use the 'Installation Guide' link to open the installation guide, if required.
License Manager Installation:
Save the file in a local temporary location, like 'Desktop', on the machine that you are installing the license manager onto, this will be needed during the License Manager installation.
New Installation, no previous versions installed:
First install the license manager:
Windows Vista and 7, Server 2008:
Start the installer from the Base Release media DVD, or download, and then use the 'License Manager' link from 'Setup' to install the license manager.
Windows 8, 8.1, Server 2012:
You will need to get the updated license manager installer from, http://www.mediafire.com/download/u2e5ucq8ut33ytg/CadenceLicenseManager_11_13.zip then extract the archive and run the setup.exe from the extracted files. (The 16.6 Base Release license manager installer provided on the media will fail to install correctly on Windows 8, 8.1 and Server 2012)
All:
When prompted for the 'license file that you were sent', Browse to the license manager text file saved previously and complete the license manager installation.

Drivers for the USB Dongle:
Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 will usually get the required dongle drivers from Windows Update when the dongle is attached and the machine is connected to the internet, this does not
seem to work as well for the Windows Server editions and a download directly from SafeNet, the USB dongle manufacturer, http://sentinelcustomer.safenet-inc.com/sentineldownloads/?s=&c=End+User&p=Sentinel+HASP+HL&o=all&t=all or an internet search for 'safenet hasp latest drivers' will get to the required resource, 'Sentinel Downloads', get the 'HASP / LDK Windows GUI Runtime Installer' downloaded locally and run the setup to install the required drivers.

The Allegro Flow is based on the re-se of already existing knowhow. On that way you define circuit diagrams or physical footprints only once and save them in a library. In case these elements are used in your designs, they are copied in your design and so a part of it. The modifications are written to the library being controled or stay just as a local modification in the current design.

In the library you can not only store individual componants but also parts of a circuit. Then you place these circuit modules full routed in the design. Another attribute of the Allegro Flow is the hierachical structure of schematics, design rules or component stuctures. The configuration levels are controlled by different licenses. It is possible to enhance the function of a module by a simple change of the license without closing the design. From the commercial view you have the possbility to buy the licenses and to rent in short terme additional respectively rarely used options via an eDA-card. Therefore it is possible to use the complete function volume of the Allegro platform with an optimized budget.
Since over than 20 years Allegro uses the same technology of the internal design data management and is still until today as unique EDA tool manufacturer in the position, to read the archived design data into the current Allegro versions. The Allegro upward compatibility thus protects the investment once occured in a PCB design software, because data can be reused without conversion.
